One of Manchester United's summer signings has been speaking about what another once did in training.
The 19-year-old arrived at Old Trafford from Southampton last summer, along with Argentine international Angel Di Maria. And it is the former Real Madrid star who Shaw believes has scored the best strike he has ever seen on the training field.
“I think I’ll see Angel Di Maria’s goal in the first few weeks after he joined the club,” Shaw said. “It was from outside of the box, with his right foot and he smashed it into the corner.”
Around that time, Di Maria was on fire for United and looked like being the superstar signing they had been crying out for. But despite scoring three goals and providing six assists in his first nine league matches, the club-record buy then went off the boil.
Di Maria has failed to score since the beginning of January, while he has added just six more assists to his tally for the season and has been a regular on the substitutes’ bench in recent times.
That said, it was always going to take time for Di Maria to fully settle and United fans will be hoping they see the best of him in the next campaign and beyond.
