Gary Gardner has suggested that loan club Nottingham Forest will be promoted to the Premier League next season.
Gardner, who is on loan at Forest from Aston Villa, was watching Bournemouth's 3-0 win over Bolton Wanderers last night, which secured the Cherries' promotion, and he predicts that the Reds will be in a similar position next campaign.
The 22-year-old took to Twitter to make his prediction and his optimism will encourage Forest fans about what is in store for the next campaign.
Forest were actually amongst the favourites to be promoted from the Championship this term, but they have fallen short of their expectations.
The Midlands outfit struggled under the leadership of Stuart Pearce, and Dougie Freedman arrived too late to rescue their season.
It leaves them set to finish in mid-table, but Gardner clearly believes that they have the potential to finish in the top two next year.
To do so Forest will need to recruit smartly in the summer and build on the solid core of players that they already have at the City Ground.
Whether Gardner will be part of the Forest squad which tries to achieve promotion remains unknown. Freedman's side are likely to want to keep him, but his impressive form on his loan spell could well see him return to Villa's first-team.
