Florent Malouda will need to be at his best to help Metz get a result from PSG on Tuesday.
FC Metz travel to Paris to take on Laurent Blanc’s side in PSG’s game in hand. Both sides need all three points, but for extremely different reasons. PSG are currently second on goal difference after their 6-1 win over Lille was followed by Lyon’s 4-2 victory over Stade de Reims.
However, victory on Tuesday would see them move three points clear with just four games to go, putting them in pole position.
Metz on the other hand are holding out for a miracle at the bottom of the table. They are currently on 30 points, a mere eight points from Reims in 17th position. Even if they managed the almost impossible on Tuesday, it would still be an uphill task, but on the back of picking up points in Paris, it would be a huge boost.
Malouda will be key to Metz's success. The Champions League winner has been involved in Metz's last three goals, scoring one and setting up two. It was his skill on the by-line against Bordeaux on Saturday that created the opening goal for Les Grenats.
That was his fourth assist of the season, and although it has been a difficult campaign for the 34-year-old, when he is on form he is a huge influence on the Metz side.
Malouda will continue his role in the Metz attack, supporting West Ham United loanee Modibo Maiga in the final third. This duo will be the difference between success or failure for the away side.
If PSG are in the same mood they were against Lille, there might not be anything the former Premier League duo can do.
