Arsenal legend Ian Wright has predicted in The Sun that Watford striker Troy Deeney will be a success in the Premier League.
“Scoring 20 goals three seasons in a row shows he (Deeney) has a bit about him,” Wright wrote in The Sun. “At 26, he is a great age to take on Premier League defenders.
“I was 28 before I made my debut for Arsenal, winning trophies and playing for England. I hope Deeney goes on to bigger things too.”
Deeney has been one of the most consistent strikers in the Championship in recent years and has been arguably the best this campaign.
In 41 appearances in the Championship so far this term, the 26-year-old has scored 21 goals and has created 60 chances.
The former Walsall star has a pass accuracy of 62% and a shot accuracy of 59%, and he has won 172 headers, 31 dribbles and 37 tackles.
Playing in the Premier League will be a lot more difficult for both Watford and Deeney, but that does not mean that they will not succeed.
Given the way Deeney has been playing for the past three or so seasons, Watford fans should feel optimistic about him scoring lots of goals in the 2015-16 campaign.
