Former Liverpool and Leeds United defender Jim Beglin has taken to social networking site Twitter to praise Everton for their victory over Manchester United at home on Sunday.
Merseyside outfit Everton made it two wins out of two in the Premier League, as they got the better of the Red Devils 3-0 at Goodison Park.
James McCarthy put hosts the Toffees in the lead as early as the fifth minute, and John Stones headed in the home team’s second 10 minutes before the half-time interval.
Then with 16 minutes of normal time remaining, Kevin Mirallas beat the offside trap to find the target and wrap up a 3-0 win for Everton.
Everton were the better side and deserved all three points. Although over the course of the 90 minutes, Roberto Martinez’s team had just 35% of the possession, they took nine shots of which seven were on target, and earned seven corners.
In contrast, Louis van Gaal’s United had 65% of the possession, took 17 shots of which only four were on target, and earned seven corners.
Former Republic of Ireland international left-back Beglin was following the game, and he highlighted three areas in which Everton were better than United.
Everton are currently 10th in the Premier League table with 44 points from 34 matches and will take on Aston Villa away from home at Villa Park next weekend.
Meanwhile, United find themselves fourth in the league standings at the moment with 65 points from 34 matches, seven points clear of Liverpool, who are fifth and have a game in hand.
The Manchester outfit are back in Premier League action next weekend when they face West Bromwich Albion at Old Trafford.
