The Sunderland goal-scorer has been speaking about what his side must keep doing in their remaining league fixtures.
The Black Cats drew 1-1 with Mark Hughes’ side on Saturday, but with Leicester City continuing their brilliant run Sunderland slipped into the bottom three with games running out.
Dick Advocaat’s side are one point behind the Foxes with five games remaining, and the way Nigel Pearson’s side have been playing lately, they may be heading in one direction only.
That could leave Sunderland hoping the likes of Hull City and Aston Villa drop plenty more points, but whatever happens, Wickham knows what his side should be focusing on.
“I think after our second-half performance on Saturday we’ve shown that we can really put teams under pressure and that’s what we need to keep doing,” Wickham said.
The 22-year-old scored in the very first minute on Saturday and while he could not ultimately help his side to a win, he will be hoping to add to his tally in the remaining fixtures, starting with this Saturday’s clash with Southampton.
With two goals in his last two matches, Sunderland fans will be hoping he makes it a hat-trick of sorts against the Saints.
