In form Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths has been quoted by the Daily Mail suggesting his form shows how hard he has worked to change perceptions of him.
Griffiths is currently the club’s top scorer and has transformed perceptions about him in recent weeks, which suggested that he was not capable of being the main man in Celtic’s attack.
“If you had said to me at the turn of the year that I would be the club’s top scorer with a few games to go, I would have laughed at you,” he said.
“But it just shows how hard I have worked to change the manager’s mind about me as a player. I am reaping the rewards right now and so is he.”
Griffiths’ form has given Deila extra options in attack because he’s stepped forward and has made the difference in big games when other players have fallen off of the pace.
No one can fault his work rate and effort, which has helped him to level the playing field against some very aggressive and physical defenders.
When Celtic have faced adversity this season, he’s worked his socks off and should start next season as one of the club’s first choice strikers.
Manager Ronny Deila will have a challenge over the summer to bring in a replacement for John Guidetti, currently on loan, but the person he signs will likely play off of Griffiths rather than the other way around.
Hopefully he can continue to defy expectations, help Celtic secure the league title and play a big part in a treble winning campaign over 2015/2016.
