Aston Villa midfielder Carlos Sanchez has told the club's official site of his pleasure after seeing Tom Cleverley score against Manchester City at the weekend.
Cleverley scored Villa's first goal in their 3-2 defeat to City and Sanchez, who also netted in the fixture, was pleased to see his midfield colleague on the scoresheet.
Cleverley had not scored for Villa previously and Sanchez believes it will be important for them both to keep hitting the back of the net between now and the end of the season.
"I'm happy for Tom," the Colombian said. "We need goals and it can only help the team if we both contribute. We played well against a big team, a big club at their stadium."
Cleverley had been criticised by Villa fans during his initial period at the club, but his performances under Tim Sherwood have been much improved and his goal was well deserved.
The Manchester United loanee has been one of the Claret and Blues' key performers over recent weeks and he has changed opinions dramatically.
There are now a number of Villa supporters hoping that his loan move is made permanent in the summer and Cleverley will be pleased to have impressed.
The England international's confidence appears to have been low in the last few seasons, but he seems to be thriving under Sherwood's leadership and he could be vital for Villa as they look to avoid the drop.
