Wolverhampton Wanderers returned to winning ways in the Championship on Saturday when they got the better of Wigan Athletic 1-0 away from home.
The Wanderers headed into the game at the DW Stadium on the back of a 1-1 draw with Ipswich Town at Molineux and without a win in three matches.
It was not the most comprehensive of victories for Wolves at the DW Stadium, but at the end of the day, three points are all that matter.
Former Arsenal striker Benik Afobe scored the only goal of the match in the 25th minute of the encounter, finding the target from close range after connecting with Bakary Sako’s free kick.
Over the course of the 90 minutes, Wolves had just 38% of the possession, took four shots of which three were on target, and earned four corners.
The win against Wigan means that Kenny Jackett’s side are currently eighth in the Championship table with 75 points from 45 matches, just two points behind sixth-placed Derby County.
Following the result, Wolves duo Afobe and Sako took to Twitter to reveal in the win.
My 50th appearance of the season and pleased we got back to winning ways. Hard 1-0 win but the dream is still alive! pic.twitter.com/lypEYTb0Uu— Benik Afobe (@Afobe_) April 25, 2015
