Newcastle United suffered their seventh successive defeat in the Premier League on Saturday, as they went down 3-2 to Swansea City at St. James’ Park.
The Magpies headed into the game on the back of a 3-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur at home, and they slumped to a loss yet again.
John Carver’s side took the lead through Spanish forward and 2014 summer signing Ayoze Perez in the 20th minute, but it was Welsh outfit Swansea who eventually came out on a top.
A late goal from Siem de Jong did provide Newcastle with a ray of hope for the final minutes, but the hosts failed to pick up anything from the contest.
The defeat means that the Magpies remain 14th in the Premier League table with 35 points from 34 matches, but they are just five points above the relegation zone.
The mood at St. James’ on Saturday was that of disappointment and concern for the immediate future, and it can be summed by the following two pictures from the match.
