Tottenham Hotspur have had an eventful season, and despite their failure to win any silverware it is a campaign that has suggested the future is bright at White Hart Lane.
The emergence of Harry Kane and Ryan Mason, the impressive development of Nabil Bentaleb and the fine form of summer signing Eric Dier are just a few reasons for the Spurs faithful to be cheerful. As will their fighting spirit in twice coming from behind against Southampton on Saturday.
The game ended 2-2, with Nacer Chadli and Erik Lamela scoring for the visitors, and the former took to Twitter after the game to have his say, as did the always-impressive Bentaleb.
Chadli netted his 10th goal of the season at St Mary’s, and later he wrote, “Good point today after coming back from losing position. Keep faith and fight.”
It was an interesting statement that suggests Spurs have not yet given up on a top-four place despite games running out and the gap between them and the sides currently occupying those positions.
But keeping the faith and fighting is something that bodes well for this young Tottenham side.
Bentaleb, who has been one of Spurs’ most impressive players week in, week out, also had his say.
“Good point today, the fans were brilliant,” he wrote. “Now let’s focus on next Saturday.”
That match sees Tottenham face Manchester City in a huge six-pointer in terms of Champions League qualification.
