Sunderland fans give their verdict on Premier League survival chances on Twitter

Sunderland are currently third from bottom in the Premier League table.

Sunderland failed to return to winning ways in the Premier League on Saturday, as they played out a 1-1 draw with Stoke City away from home.

The Black Cats headed into the game at the Britannia Stadium on the back of a 4-1 defeat to Crystal Palace at the Stadium of Light.

It was not going to be easy for Sunderland to collect all three points at the Britannia Stadium, and it proved to be so.

Dick Advocaat’s side took the lead as early as the first minute, when Connor Wickham capitalised on an Asmir Begovic fumble.

Stoke, though, restored parity in the 27th minute through Scottish midfielder Charlie Adam, who found the target with a powerful rising shot.

Over the course of the 90 minutes, Sunderland had just 39% of the possession, took 15 shots of which only five were on target, and earned eight corners.

Sunderland are now third from bottom in the Premier League table with 30 points from 33 matches, a point behind 17th-placed Leicester City.

Following the defeat, Sunderland fans took to social networking site Twitter to have their say on the team’s survival chances in the Premier League.
