The Belgian striker was flagged offside, incorrectly, against Manchester City.
Aston Villa's relegation battle will rumble on for now. The Villans were excellent in their early evening game against Manchester City yesterday. After going 2-0 down, they fought back to 2-2. Unfortunately, a goal from Fernando made it 3-2 late on and Villa were down and out.
Villa were also unlucky. Individual mistakes and a bad call from the linesman possibly cost them the game at The Etihad.
After the game one Villa player was not pleased with the result, although was happy with the performance. Jack Grealish is becoming a key member of the Aston Villaline-up under Tim Sherwood, and rightly so.
He has performed brilliantly since being brought into the first XI and is already immensely popular around the ground.
He took to Twitter yesterday, clearly annoyed at the end result of a hard-fought battle:
Christian Benteke however, was even more aggrieved. The Belgian went through on goal at 2-2, rounded Joe Hart, before being taken down. Red card and penalty should have followed. But Benteke was flagged offside - judging by his Tweet, he was not best pleased:
But all in all Villa have themselves to blame, with some bad defending costing them at least a point against the Premier League champions.
