Manchester United fans react on Twitter to Falcao's performance v Everton

Falcao Sir Alex

United supporters were understandably unhappy with their 'striker' after the 3-0 loss to Everton.

A mixture of factors have led Radamel Falcao to where he is today...

Injuries, personal disagreements with Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal and playing very little top-level football for a very high wage indeed have all no doubt played their part.

But it's still puzzling - and difficult - to watch what was once a world-class striker struggle to even find the target for United like he did against Everton on Sunday afternoon. And Manchester United fans were far from pleased with the 29-year-old on Twitter...

  GoalsAssistsShots on TargetAppearancesMinutes Played
Wayne Rooney 12 5 25 30 2,651
Robin van Persie 10 2 31 25 1,995
Juan Mata 8 4 10 29 1,964
Marouane Fellaini 5 0 16 23 1,542
Ander Herrera 5 4 5 22 1,508
Falcao 4 4 16 23 1,174

As Opta stats show, Falcao's return - for a big-money striker who has earned plenty of money since you started reading this sentence - is a dour one.

Signed to be United's leading light up front, the Colombian is the club's sixth-highest scorer in the Premier League, being outscored by Ander Herrera from midfield and also Marouane Fellaini.

Twenty-three appearances have brought just 16 shots on target this season and any serious chance of him staying at Manchester United beyond the summer are looking exceedingly slim.

Falcao had his apologists, of course, with plenty arguing the sharpness he showed to score an offside goal against Everton was proof that his talent remains. But, if United are to take a big gamble by bringing him to Old Trafford permanently next season, they can't say they haven't been warned...
