Liverpool saw their hopes of a top-four finish suffer another blow this weekend as they were held to a goalless draw against West Bromwich Albion.
Brendan Rodgers’ side were hoping to cut the gap on the likes of Manchester City and Manchester United, but they came up against a West Brom side that refused to concede.
Any side managed by Tony Pulis is a tough nut to crack and Liverpool’s forward were simply not good enough to break down the hosts.
Posting a message shortly after the final whistle, the Belgian stopper wrote, “Defended really well as a whole; unfortunately we didn’t manage to get a goal.”
Liverpool’s defence has not always impressed this season but since switching to three centre-backs they have looked far more solid.
That said, they began to ship goals more recently and Rodgers will be pleased with a fine defensive display, with the much-maligned Dejan Lovren particularly impressive.
