Laurent Koscielny: Arsenal must beat ‘best team in league' Chelsea

The Gunners star thinks the title is heading to Stamford Bridge and Arsene Wenger’s men are thinking about next season.

Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny has admitted that the North London club are not thinking about winning the Premier League title this season.

Ahead of today’s clash with current leaders Chelsea, the Gunners are ten points adrift of the Blues with only five games remaining in the campaign.

Despite it being mathematically possible for Arsene Wenger’s men to still overhaul the Stamford Bridge side, Koscielny has stated that the Blues are the best team in the Premier League and Arsenal want to beat them.

“We don’t talk about the title; it’s finished,” The Daily Mail quote the France international as saying.

“But we are professionals and want to finish in a high position, and we have the final of the FA Cup so we can finish well.

“And it’s always important to win against the best team in the Premier League. It’s psychological; you can win these games.

“So maybe it’s not for this season but next season we want to start quickly and it will be very important to be ready.”

Arsenal have been on a much improved run of form since the turn of the year, with defining victories against top-four rivals such as Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United.

Over the last couple of seasons Wenger’s men have struggled against the best teams in the division, with the Emirates Stadium faithful hoping better results over the last couple of months will see the Gunners as title challengers next season.

Koscielny has been an important member of the Arsenal team to storm up the table, despite having injury concerns earlier in the campaign.
