Celtic romped to a 3-0 win over Dundee United at Tannadice this afternoon after a second half hat-trick from star striker Leigh Griffiths.
After Aberdeen's 2-1 win over Inverness Caledonian Thistle on Saturday, the Bhoys knew they needed to win in order to restore their eight points lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership - and that's just what they did.
Celtic were subdued in the first half but cane out all guns blazing in the second, with Leigh Griffiths driving the opening goal beyond Radoslaw Cierzniak inside the first two minutes of the second half after good work from Scott Brown and Stefan Johansen.
Griffiths then grabbed his second just past the hour mark, bundling the ball home from close range after a shot had been cleared off the line from a corner.
Gary Mackay-Steven, formerly of Dundee United, was making his return to Tannadice and had a big impact on the game, with his driving run leading to a late penalty, which Griffiths stepped up and slotted past Cierzniak to give Celtic an emphatic win.
The result restores Celtic's eight point lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership table, meaning that they could secure the title next week if results go their way.
