One of Celtic's players has suggested he is open to a contract extension.
The 24-year-old has been in fine form this season, scoring 12 goals and providing nine assists in 53 appearances.
In short, he is an integral part of manager Ronny Deila’s side and with a contract until the summer of 2017, there is no risk of him leaving any time soon. But he has now welcomed the prospect of extending that stay further should Celtic decide to offer him a new deal in due course.
“Things are going well for me and well for the team but we haven’t had the talk about a new contract yet,” Johansen said. “If it comes up we will take it then.
“But I really like Glasgow and I really like to play for Celtic. Everything about a new contract though, that’s why I have an agent.”
At 24 and with a breakthrough season at Celtic under his belt, there is no reason why Johansen cannot go on to become one of their best players for many a year.
He certainly has the talent and the confidence in his own ability, while the faith his manager has in him is clear for all to see and fully justified.
This season looks to be one of considerable success at Celtic Park but next year expect Johansen and his teammates to be having another go for that historic treble as well as a fresh challenge in European competition.
