The former Athletic Bilbao star has become a key man in the middle of the park at Manchester United under Louis van Gaal.
We take a look at whether Manchester United's Ander Herrera deserves his nomination for Player of the Month for April, with the former Spanish Under-21 star up against Eden Hazard, Yannick Bolasie, Mesut Ozil, Esteban Cambiasso and Christian Benteke for the prize.
Despite a slow start to his United career, Herrera now boasts 7 goals this season, the most he has ever scored in one campaign, and he has slotted in seamlessly into Louis van Gaal's new look but dominant midfield.
Herrera's performances in April 2015
|Position||Team||Goals||Big Chance Created||Ontarget Att Assist||Accurate Pass Per Game||Passing Accuracy||Touches Per Game||Successful Take Ons||Appearances||Mins Played|

Herrera has enjoyed a superb month for Manchester United, starting of course a with his goalscoring brace against Aston Villa.
But his overall dominance in midfield is evident by the fact the 25-year-old has seen, and passed the ball better than any other player throughout the month.
Only Antonio Valencia has more touches per game than Herrera in the Premier League, while the Spaniard has averaged more accurate passes per game than any other player. His overall passing accuracy is high too, impressive considering just how many passes he has attempted.
There were few central midfielders who scored more than the United man in April, but clearly, it is his qualities getting on the ball that made him such an attractive nomination for Player of the Month.
These qualities are exactly why United paid so much for the Bilbao star, and he looks to be very much settle in as Van Gaal leads his side towards Champions League qualification.
