Tottenham round-up: Early team news and Florian Thauvin reportedly scouted

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur take on Southampton at St Mary’s this afternoon in a Premier League clash that could play a huge role in future European qualification.

Just one point and one place currently separate the two sides in the table and it will be interesting to see who comes out on top in the lunch-time kick-off.

In early team news, the BBC reports that Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris will get an assessment on his knee injury prior to kick-off to see if he can be involved.

Kyle Walker is definitely out after suffering an injury last week but manager Mauricio Pochettino has an otherwise fully-fit side to choose from.

As for Southampton, Toby Alderweireld could return just a week after being taken off with a shoulder injury.

In other news, Julien Laurens, a respected French football journalist who writes for Le Parisien and ESPN among others, claims Tottenham sent scouts to watch Marseille’s clash with Lorient on Friday evening.

It is suggested that Spurs were keeping a close eye on 22-year-old winger Florian Thauvin who can also play as an attacking midfielder if required.

The claims come just a day after the Daily Mail reported that Spurs were rivalling Chelsea in the race for the French under-21 international.
