Taking a closer look at the Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds United defenders.
This weekend Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds United faced off at Hillsborough, with Neil Redfearn’s men ultimately coming out on top.
Goals from Charlie Taylor and Steve Morison ensured Chris Maguire’s opener was a mere consolation while also ending a six-game winless run for the visitors.
Lees is a player Leeds fans will know well from his time at Elland Road, and the 24-year-old has excelled since his move to the Owls.
Against his former club he did relatively well, outperforming Cooper in terms of tackles won, duels won and passing accuracy, the last of which saw the Leeds star have a shocker.
Cooper was given his chance to return to the starting line-up due to Giuseppe Bellusci’s injury, but he will have to do much better than the 38 per cent passing accuracy he managed on Saturday.
That aside, Cooper impressed, beating Lees when it came to effective clearances both with his head and his feet and interceptions won, while the two players were level in terms of aerial contests.
Leeds are not going to miss Lees as long as they have the likes of Cooper and more importantly Sol Bamba in their side, but Wednesday have a class player at their disposal, even if some Whites fans will never rate their former player.
