Sheffield Wednesday fans react on Twitter to Tom Lees' display v Leeds

Another former Leeds man faced the Elland Road outfit on Saturday afternoon.

There may have been plenty of Leeds United fans joking about blaming Tom Lees on Twitter on Saturday afternoon but Sheffield Wednesday supporters were delighted with the 24-year-old.

There was plenty of praise for Lees' performance against his former club Leeds despite difficult circumstances - and despite the fact the visitors went on to beat Wednesday 2-1. There was more praise for Lees generally, however, with several nominating him as one of Sheffield Wednesday's players of the season.

It's interesting to see how well some of the stars Leeds sold have fared this campaign. Ross McCormack, for instance, got a hat-trick against Middlesbrough this weekend. And Lees has certainly performed for Sheffield Wednesday this term - some fans even claiming the Championship side would have been relegated without him.

Saturday's result, though, leaves Wednesday 14th, four points above Leeds, who earned their first win after five straight defeats. Both sides will need a busy summer to ensure improved campaigns next time around and, of those Sheffield Wednesday fans want to keep, Lees is one of just several names...

Here's what Wednesday fans made of the 24-year-old's display as he faced up against his former side:
