Former Liverpool star Jamie Redknapp has picked the individual he thinks Manchester City should target to replace the ageing Yaya Toure in an article for Sky Sports, a player he thinks will be offloaded in the summer.
And unfortunately for Manchester United fans, it's a player they know well, but not as well as they would have liked.
"It’s hard not to be impressed by the Juventus midfielder. He’s a fantastic talent who can do everything. Players like him don’t come along very often and at 22 years old he has a huge future in front of him."
United's inability to convince Pogba of a future at Old Trafford hurts enough considering he went on to prove himself one of the best young players in world football within his first season at Juventus - now three years later and one of the best central midfielders in world football, it would be unthinkable were the Frenchman to wind up at Manchester City.
Given his age, not to mention his quality, Pogba could be the foundation of a team like City for the next decade. The 22-year-old has the ability to surpass Toure, and it would be one of the greatest failures of Sir Alex Ferguson's reign if the France international, who has scored 9 goals in 34 games for Juve this season, ended up in the Blue half of Manchester.
Pogba's time in the North East may actually work in City's favour, according to the former Liverpool and Spurs captain: "After spending time with Manchester United, he will know the area, which could play into City’s favour.
"City would probably have to break the transfer record for midfielders to sign him but with Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal all set to be stronger next season, they need to pull out the stops."
