Game to be played on Sunday 26th April at 12:30. Venue: Tannadice, Dundee.
Odds: Dundee United 8/1, draw 4/1, Celtic 2/5
Dundee United and Celtic meet for the seventh time this season with the Hoops looking to close in on the Scottish Premiership title.
Ronny Deila’s side bounced back from their Scottish Cup semi-final defeat last weekend with a victory over Dundee during the week, and another win on Sunday would, at the least, maintain their eight-point gap at the top.
Jackie McNamara’s team have won once in their last 12 games in all competitions, with their win against Hamilton ending a ten-game run without success. The Terrors couldn’t build on that victory and lost their next game against Aberdeen.
The Bhoys have enjoyed contrasting fortunes to United and haven’t lost in their last 10 games, recording seven wins in that time to leave them unbeaten in their last six league games.
Their record against Dundee United speaks for itself, with Deila’s side winning five of the six games and drawing one. Celtic have won the last three in a row, which should give them a psychological advantage over an opponent that has struggled to compete against them.
Gary Mackay-Steven and Stuart Armstrong will make their first appearance back at Tannadice since the January move that saw them swap Dundee for Glasgow, and there could be a start for John Guidetti after spending the majority of the last two matches on the bench.
Stefan Johansen comes back into the squad after missing the midweek fixture, along with Adam Matthews who could replace Efe Ambrose in the Celtic defence.
Mario Bilate is sidelined with a hamstring injury, but may be replaced by Robbie Muirhead, who could make his first start for his new club since joining in January from Kilmarnock.
John Rankin also returns for Dundee United and could come in to replace Calum Butcher, who is doubtful with a shoulder injury.
