Liverpool round-up: Early team news and Emre Can on the rest of the season

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Liverpool

Liverpool travel to The Hawthorns this weekend to take on Tony Pulis’s West Bromwich Albion.

The Reds are currently fifth in the Premier League table, seven points behind fourth-placed Manchester City but with a game in hand.

Liverpool will not have given up hope of a Champions League place next season but they need everything to go their way between now and the end of the campaign.

In early team news, the BBC reports that Liverpool are without the injured trio Daniel Sturridge, Lucas Leiva and Mamadou Sakho.

Adam Lallana and Jon Flanagan are doubts but Jordon Ibe can return after being cup-tied for the FA Cup semi-final against Aston Villa.

West Brom will have to do without defender Andre Wisdom, who cannot play against his parent-club.

In other news, Liverpool midfielder-cum-defender Emre Can has been speaking to the club’s official website about turning their cup disappointment around for what remains of the campaign.

The £9.75million summer signing from Bayer Leverkusen has impressed this season, and he said of their recent setbacks, “We’ve got to learn from it and go into next season’s competitions looking to do well.”
