Kyle Ebecilio was released by Arsenal, now he's being dubbed the 'new Frank Rijkaard' amid AC Milan reports

Former Arsenal youth product Kyle Ebecilio is reported to be on AC Milan’s radar as Nigel de Jong’s replacement after impressing for FC Twente.

According to Italian publication Calciomercato, AC Milan will look to replace influential midfielder Nigel de Jong with former Arsenal trainee Kyle Ebecilio.

The 21-year-old, who has been dubbed the ‘new Frank Rijkaard’ by publication affaritaliani, has been one of FC Twente’s most impressive players this season and earned himself a permanent place at the base of the Eredivisie side’s midfield trio.

Although Twente haven’t performed as well as they would have liked this season, the performances of the Holland under-21 international have clearly caught Filippo Inzaghi’s eye.

Have Arsenal made a mistake with Ebecilio?

The surprising aspect of Ebecilio’s past is that he was allowed to leave Arsenal without much of a fight.

No transfer fee was mentioned on Arsenal.com when he left the club and he must have impressed immediately in Holland as he quickly became a regular in the Twente first-team.

Although he may have seen his progress stall in North London, a willingness to allow the youngster to leave looks to have left the decision makers at the Emirates with egg on their face – especially if he signs for AC Milan for big money.

Arsenal have an abundance of talent in midfield and the loss of the player, in the grand scheme of things, is unlikely to be one that leaves the coaching staff tearing their hair out for long.

It’s just a shame that the Gunners allowed the talented youngster to leave without much of a fight when he could have possibly had a bright future at the club.
