Jack Hobbs picks Tesche strike for goal of the season - even if it's a parting gift

Nottingham Forest defender Jack Hobbs has picked Robert Tesche's strike against Charlton Athletic as his goal of the season, according to the club's official website.

Hobbs was most impressed by the German's late wondergoal against the Addicks of a selection of 10 offered to him and heaped praise on the ability the 27-year-old showed to pull it off.

Tesche's future, however, remains unclear. The midfielder is currently on loan at Championship side Birmingham City and earlier this month admitted he does not know what the future holds in terms of his Nottingham Forest career.

Hobbs' pick and praise, then, may well end up a parting gift to the German!

Of Tesche's goal v Charlton (watch the equalising goal in the video above), the Nottingham Forest man said: “The technique involved in trying to hit a ball that’s running away from you and bouncing fairly high is difficult.

“He’s finished it on his weaker foot into the top corner from 20 yards. It was a great finish and I think it was probably the most technically difficult - that’s why I’m choosing him.”

Meanwhile, Hobbs also previewed Forest's Championship trip to Ipswich Town, where the defender is anticipating a 'typical Mick McCarthy side.'

Despite there being little to play for for Nottingham Forest, Hobbs insists Dougie Freedman's team will have nothing on their minds other than going all out for the win at Portman Road.

The 26-year-old added: “I think it’ll be a good intensity and a tough match. They’re extremely well organised and hard-working - a typical Mick McCarthy side.

“We’re going there to win the game. We want to put a good display for the fans, get the win and show what we can do.”
