Former Middlesbrough 'keeper slams current number one Dimitrios Konstantopoulos after dramatic Fulham loss

Marlon Beresford was not pleased with Dimi after he went up for a late corner v Fulham.

Watford FC are promoted to the Premier League after Norwich City drew with Rotherham United and Middlesbrough were stunned by Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Those results sent the Glory Hornet Boys back to the Premier League.

But the way Boro lost to Fulham was truly shocking. They were beaten 4-3 in a stunning game in West London.

Fulham were 3-1 up 70 minutes into the game and Boro had been reduced to ten men. At that point, the drama that unfolded was not predicted.

Boro pulled level through goals from Daniel Ayala and Kike before going all out for a win. Knowing they were safe in the play-offs, and a draw would likely hand promotion to Watford and Bournemouth, they went all out for a winning goal - including throwing goalkeeper Dimitrios Konstantopoulos forward for a late corner.

But Fulham broke and Ross McCormack stroked home his hat-trick goal to wrap up a 4-3 victory.

The decision to send the big Greek forward has now been criticised by a former Boro goalkeeper. Marlon Beresford, who was at Boro for four years, was mainly a back-up during his time on Teesside, and he Tweeted on the subject:

If Bournemouth win on Monday night they are promoted and Boro will have to go through the rigmarole of the play-offs.
