Ford recalls 390k cars for faulty door latches

Ford recalled about 390,000 newer cars, including some Fiesta, Fusion and Lincoln MKZ models, with door latch issues.

The North American recall affects 2012-2014 Ford Fiesta models and 2013-2014 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ models. Ford dealers will replace all four latches for no cost, the company said.

A broken part in the doors can lead to difficulty in closing them, leaving the "potential the door may unlatch while driving," Ford said. The automaker noted two cases in which a door bounced back and hit individuals when they tried to close it.

Shares in Ford closed slightly higher Friday.
