The German international is all set to become a United player this summer.
They reported that Manchester United were on the brink of agreeing a £21.5 million deal for the German international, beating the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City to his signing.
Of course it is not the first time United have been linked with the player. Previous reports of imminent deals however have often proven not to be true, but this seems like the most credible yet.
So is Gundogan on his way to United?
One Bundesliga expert thinks so.
Jan Age Fjortoft played for Swindon Town, Middlesbrough, Sheffield United and Barnsley during his five years in English football - gracing the Premier League during his time with Boro and The Tykes.
A Norwegian international with over 70 caps for the Scandinavian country throughout his 20-year footballing career - the 46-year-old forward ended his playing days outside of his homeland in Germany, which led him to a career in German television.
He is best known for announcing the Mesut Ozil to Arsenal transfer before it was well known elsewhere. Now he has had his say on Gundogan, making it clear no deal was yet done but that he fully expects the German to head to Old Trafford in the summer:
Dortmund- bosses say Gündogan- deal to Man UTD is "not fix". My tip is that he will leave this summer. Contract till 2016. Fee now— Jan Aage Fjortoft (@JanAageFjortoft) April 25, 2015
Gundogan only returned to action after a year out in October with a trapped nerve in his back which seemed to threaten his career.
Now the midfielder looks set to finally secure a move to the Premier League and take his career to the next level.
