Mark Lawrenson has predicted the result of Newcastle's clash with Swansea City.
Pundit Mark Lawrenson has written in his weekly BBC prediction column that Newcastle United will draw with Swansea City this weekend.
The Newcastle faithful are growing increasingly restless, and Carver desperately needs a positive result to alleviate the tension around St. James' Park.
This weekend, they welcome Swansea City to Tyneside, with Garry Monk's side coming off the back of 2-0 defeat to relegation-threatened Leicester City last week.
The loss of star striker Wilfried Bony has clearly been a big blow for the Swans, but Monk will be keen to finish in the top eight this season.
The corresponding fixture in South Wales earlier this season ended in a 2-2 draw, and BBC pundit Lawrenson believes there will be another draw between the two sides this weekend, but this time with a 1-1 scoreline.
Additionally, Lawrenson noted just how terrible the current situation at Newcastle is, and admitted that he feels sorry for manager Carver.
"Words fail me when it comes to Newcastle at the moment," said Lawrenson. "They have lost six straight games but I really feel for their manager John Carver because he is in an impossible position. He is a good coach too by the way, because I have seen him at work. He must be tearing his hair out wondering what he can do to turn things round."
"Swansea were beaten at Leicester last time out, but they have only lost back-to-back Premier League games three times this season. I cannot see it happening again at St James' Park, especially with Newcastle playing like their season has already finished," he added
