Ferreyra has been included in John Carver’s Newcastle squad for the Premier League fixture with Swansea.
As per a report in the Chronicle, Ferreyra has been confirmed as part of Newcastle’s matchday squad for this weekend’s round of fixtures.
Signing on loan at St James’ Park from Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk at the beginning of the season, big things were expected of Ferreyra.
A 24-year-old Argentine centre-forward, with youth caps to his name, and a solid, if unspectacular, strike rate at club level, it appeared as if Newcastle had finally secured a striker to assist Papiss Cisse in the goalscoring department.
However, his career on Tyneside has not really kicked-off, and he has registered just five Under-21 appearances to his name, without yet turning out for the first-team.
He has been included in three Premier League squads across the entire season - although none since John Carver’s appointment - and two League Cup fixtures, but the forward has yet to still take to the field of play.
He has become a cult figure on Tyneside due to his lack of appearances, and if he wants to earn a permanent transfer to St James’ Park at the end of this campaign, now would be the time for him to take to the field - and start scoring to lead Newcastle to some much needed victories.
