With Jurgen Klopp set to depart the Westfalenstadion this summer, it would appear that the mass exodus has already started at Borussia Dortmund.
The report suggests that the 24-year-old will snub the offer of a new contract with BVB in favour of a move away from the club.
And it would appear that the Premier League is the Germany international’s preferred destination, with Manchester United in pole position to capture the player this summer according to the report.
Part of the Dortmund side that made it all the way to the final of the Champions League in 2013, Gundogan scored BVB’s only goal in that 2-1 defeat against Bayern Munich at Wembley.
Injuries saw him miss much of last season, while he has played only 18 times in the Bundesliga this term.
Capped nine times by Die Mannschaft to date, Gundogan has also scored twice for the national side.
Previously with Nuremberg, the 24-year-old arrived at Dortmund in 2011 and helped BVB to a Bundesliga and DFB Pokal double during his first season at the club.
A move to Manchester United will allow Gundogan to continue playing in the Champions League, with the Red Devils closing in on a top-four finish in the Premier League.
