Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Nabil Bentaleb explained on the club’s website what he feels has been the key to the side’s team spirit this season.
Tottenham look as though they are going to fall short in the race for a Champions League place, but the Algerian has suggested that the club’s training centre has allowed a real bond to be created between the players.
“Yes, certainly (a feeling of family in the squad). We all get on well and we have this lovely Training Centre where we can all stay together after training and talk,” he said.
“We all get on and you can see how we fight for each other. We all take responsibility.”
One of the best things about the current Tottenham squad is their togetherness and the way they have battled effectively in the face of adversity and difficulty at times this season.
There have been some high points such as the wins against London rivals Arsenal and Chelsea, but there have been testing low points such as the defeat to the Blues in the League Cup final.
If the training centre helps to strengthen that bond and team spirit between the players, then it’s something the club should always maintain because of the benefits it creates.
Any team packed full of players who are fighting for each other is significant because it has the potential to level the playing field against a higher quality of opponent.
Moving forward it’s going to be important when Tottenham touch the Champions League group stage again and as manager Mauricio Pochettino pursues some silverware next season.
