Michael Owen has predicted in his Betvictor.com column that Southampton will win the Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur at home tomorrow.
The former Manchester United and Liverpool striker believes that Ronald Koeman’s side will be too strong for Spurs at St. Mary’s Stadium.
“A couple of months ago Spurs were playing as well as anyone in the division but they have lost their way of late, despite winning at St James’s Park last weekend, and I can’t see past a home win despite the London club having won the last five PL games against the Saints,” Owen wrote on Betvictor.com.
Owen is not the only pundit to predict a win for Southampton tomorrow. Former Tottenham midfielder Jamie Redknapp has also backed the Saints to pick up all three points tomorrow.
“I am going to go for 2-1 (to) Southampton,” the 41-year-old told Sky Sports. “I am going to go for (Graziano) Pelle, who seems to have found some form again, to find the first goal and get Southampton back on the march.”
Could Owen and Redknapp’s prediction come true?
Southampton are strong at home and will indeed fancy all three points against North London outfit Tottenham.
The Saints will head into tomorrow’s match on the back of a 2-1 defeat to Stoke City away from home at the Britannia Stadium, but they will be confident of bouncing back.
However, Tottenham’s chances of winning tomorrow should not be written off. Mauricio Pochettino’s side returned to winning ways last weekend when they got the better of Newcastle United 3-1 at St. James’ Park and will be high on confidence.
