The Mexican has over 1 million followers on Twitter.
In the modern age of football there is more than just the battle on the pitch to consider. Off the pitch battles also go on, including on social media. Twitter is perhaps the biggest battlefield on which these fights often take place.
When it comes to Twitter followers in the Premier League Arsenal lead the way. Chelsea are second, Manchester United third, Liverpool and Manchester City fill out the top five.
Tottenham are in sixth place, with 1,089,609 followers on Twitter. But amazingly there is a player in the Championship who has more Twitter followers than Tottenham Hotspur, and the other 14 teams in the Premier League below Tottenham.
The Mexican has 1,131, 937 followers, and climbing.
He is vastly popular in his homeland, where he played over 150 games for Club America, one of Mexico's most popular teams.
He also has 23 caps for the national team and it is clear that his popularity in Mexico has helped his rise in the Twitter race.
Next season, he will be hoping to take his Twitter followers up a notch, in the Premier League.
