Jamie Carragher: These three signings will make Arsenal title challengers

The Liverpool legend has been discussing the Gunners' chances of a title tilt next season.

Liverpool icon Jamie Carragher feels Arsenal need three signings to become Premier League title challengers next season - with a marquee forward also helping their cause, according to his regular column in the Daily Mail.

Carragher has warned the north London side not to get carried away with their current form and seriously strengthen during the summer transfer market.

The first such signing that would aid the Gunners, according to the Reds legend, is a no.1 goalkeeper like Chelsea's Petr Cech.

He said: "Ospina has played 12 Premier League games; Arsenal have won 11 and he has kept six clean sheets but Wenger still needs to buy a new No 1 if they are to be title challengers. Petr Cech would be an ideal candidate to come in."

Outfield, the former Liverpool defender has urged Arsene Wenger to go for Paul Pogba and Diego Godin.

Carragher said: "Why doesn’t he go for Paul Pogba, who looks set to leave Juventus? Wenger spent £42m on Mesut Ozil, so why not spend the same and more on Pogba.

"If they needed to sign Ozil two years ago, their need to sign Pogba this summer is even greater. Diego Godin of Atletico Madrid is 29 and at the peak of his powers. He would be ideal at the heart of the defence."

The Liverpool icon then defended his choices on Twitter, arguing the case for Pogba's signing in particular.

What will be interesting to see, if Arsenal follow Carragher's advice, is whether Chelsea would really sell or loan Cech to the north London side if it would allow them to realistically challenge the Blues for the Premier League title.

One would think Jose Mourinho and co would be strongly opposed to such a move.

Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown, meanwhile, feels it is exactly some of Mourinho and Chelsea's 'intensity' the Gunners need for a title tilt next term.
