Gardner mentioned two former Aston Villa players he’s had the pleasure of mixing with to try and create an accurate comparison over the sort of player he feels Osborn can become in the future for the club.
“I’ve trained and played with a lot of good players, I’ve been at Aston Villa since I was seven and I’ve seen a lot of players come and go like Gareth Barry and James Milner,” said Gardner.
“Ben is right up there, I think he’s shown his potential and he’s a massive player – Dougie loves him, the lads love him and he’s definitely got a good career ahead of him.”
Gareth Barry and James Milner both represent players who went on to secure bigger moves away from their club and hopefully the same won’t happen with Osborn.
He’s been the heartbeat of Nottingham Forest’s midfield and is a player that manager Dougie Freedman will most likely build his team around next season.
His fitness is superb, his control is superb and he’s got a decent eye for goal as well as the capability of playing smart and sensible basic football.
Gardner’s suggestion over his popularity also shows that he ticks all of the right boxes in terms of attitude and isn’t someone who is going to create fractions and divisions within the squad moving forward.
Hopefully Freedman can get more out of him next season and hopefully the club can prevent him from being poached.
