Former Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp has told Sky Sports that he expects Sunday’s Premier League clash between Arsenal and Chelsea to end in a draw.
The Englishman believes that the game at the Emirates Stadium in North London will end in a 1-1 draw and backs Gunners striker Olivier Giroud to score the first goal.
“I am going to go for a 1-1 draw, and I am going to go for Giroud (to score the first goal),” the 41-year-old told Sky Sports.
“I think he has been in good form and he can cause anybody problems. I think he could be a difference in this game.”
Could Jamie Redknapp’s prediction come true?
Sunday’s game promises to be an exciting one, and given the form that Arsenal are in, one should not be surprised if they actually defeat Chelsea.
Jose Mourinho’s side remain the favourites to win the Premier League title this season, but in the last few weeks, they have not played well and have looked vulnerable.
Playing at home will give Arsenal an advantage, and if Arsene Wenger’s side can score the first goal, then they will certainly be in a good position to pick up all three points.
Many would point to Wenger’s bad record against Mourinho, but past achievements and failures would mean little during Sunday’s match.
One suspects that Chelsea will be cautious in their approach at the Emirates, but Arsenal certainly have the firepower to breach their citadel at least once.
