Former Nottingham Forest and Leeds United midfielder David Prutton has predicted on Skysports.com that Watford and Bournemouth will finish in the top two of the Championship this season.
The 33-year-old former Sheffield Wednesday star has also backed Norwich City to reach the playoff final and win it.
“Watford have the experience of being so close before, which will benefit them, and with them coming from so far behind, they have an extra incentive to finish the job,” Prutton wrote on Skysports.com.
Regarding Norwich, the Englishman remarked: “They play some great football at times, and on their day can beat anyone – which will stand them in good stead in the play-offs.”
As things stand, Watford and Bournemouth are the two sides in the automatic promotion spots.
This weekend’s round of matches will be crucial in deciding the top two, and it will be interesting to see how the top three teams fare.
Norwich are still with a chance of finishing in the top two, but with three sides above them - Watford, Bournemouth and Middlesbrough - they will need something dramatic in the final two rounds to achieve that.
The Canaries, though, will be a force to be reckoned with in the playoffs, but in knockout games, anything is possible.
One should not be surprised if Norwich reach the playoff final and lose.
