The Owls have played a key part in the title race, and could still effect things further.
Chris Magiure’s injury time penalty meant the Cherries only picked up one point, and dropped to second place, one point behind Watford - who had beaten Birmingham 1-0 in a game which finished a few minutes prior.
With two games left, there are three points separating fourth place Norwich and first place Watford, although it is expected that the top two - the Hornets and Bournemouth - should hold on and clinch automatic promotion.
That is unless Wednesday have something to say about it.
The Owls travel to Vicarage Road on the last day of the season, and will be looking to further upset the applecart, and undoing all the work they did for Watford last week by defeating the Hornets.
They may have helped the Hertfordshire club move atop the table last weekend, but they could spoil the promotion party with a win - a win that could potentially knock Watford all the way down into the play-offs.
The Owls may be out of the running for a spot in the top flight themselves, but they have already played a key role in deciding who will clinch automatic promotion to the Premier League, and they could yet further be the most important team in the race for the second tier title.
