After 8 goals in 12 games Leeds United outcast Nicky Ajose is in a 14-game goal drought

Nicky Ajose is not smashing in the goals at Crewe Alexandra anymore.

Leeds had a changing of the guard up front this summer. Billy Sharp, Mirco Antenucci and Souleymane Doukara came in. Meanwhile, the likes of Ross McCormack, Matt Smith and Dominic Poleon out.

In Nicky Ajose's case, he came in and has since been sent out.

Ajose was signed by Leeds United in the summer but was not used by the club after Dave Hockaday's sacking, spending most of his time watching from the sidelines.

So he was allowed to join Crewe on loan at the end of November. That deal was then extended until the end of the season in January.

Ajose had been a resounding hit in League One scoring eight goals in 12 appearances in his early days at the club.

However, he is currently going through a dry patch. He has not scored since Valentines Day a run which now stretches 14 games and Crewe have suffered as a result.

They are currently just two points ahead of Leyton Orient and Notts County in the League One relegation battle with just two games left and have not won in five games.

Ajose now faces a battle to convince Neil Redfearn, or whoever is in charge of first-team affairs at Leeds for next season, that he is worthy of a place in the Leeds team next season.
