Video: Arsenal star Oxlade-Chamberlain shows off rugby skills

The Gunners winger impressed alongside Bath fly-half George Ford in a video the two England internationals starred in to celebrate St George's Day.

Arsenal's Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has taken part in a video with rugby star George Ford, more than matching the England fly-half when it came to converting penalty goal attempts.

Though football rarely rewards players for kicking the ball over the bar, the 21-year-old winger managed to knock his two attempts over after imitating Ford's style in the short clip, released by England Rugby in celebration of St George's Day on Thursday.

It would be great if Oxlade-Chamberlain's appearance on the rugby pitch hinted at a nearing return to match availability for Arsenal.

Unfortunately, the video was recorded in March, leaving Arsene Wenger merely hoping that the former Southampton man is edging closer to a return from injury regardless of the skills the Ox demonstrated alongside the Bath star.

England international Ford was one of the stars of the recent Six Nations Championship, and though it remains to be seen as to how he would fare at curling a football into the top corner past a goalkeeper, Oxlade-Chamberlain has some history with the oval ball.

The Gunners man revealed to the Sun after his move from the Saints in 2011 that he was set for a trial with London Irish as a youngster, only for Southampton to block the opportunity.

With a fierce London derby with Chelsea coming up this weekend, Arsenal could do with their young attacking midfielder, and all the tenacity would have picked up as a rugby playing youth.
