On Wednesday night, AS Monaco failed to overcome their 1-0 deficit to Serie A side Juventus and were eliminated from the Champions League.
The team that knocked out Arsenal in the last 16 found it one step too far in the quarter-final match up against the Italians.
Despite dominating possession on the night and enjoying many more shots on goals that their Italian opponents, they couldn’t find a way past Gianluigi Buffon and a resilient Bianconeri defence.
Monaco were brought down by their inability to deliver quality balls into the box from wide areas and from set-pieces.
They will be proud to reach the quarter-finals and not be embarrassed in their defeat, but they will rue their missed opportunities.
Arsenal fans will be left wondering whether they would have fared better against Juventus had they not had their nightmare evening at the Emirates Stadium against Monaco.
