A round up of news stories this morning related to Tottenham Hotspur.
Phillips was the last English striker to win the golden boot in the Premier League, which Kane looks set to achieve this season.
While full of praise for the forward, he’s played down a comparison to one of England’s greatest ever forwards.
“When I look at young English strikers coming through he is the future for English football – but the next Shearer, as people are talking? Let’s not get too carried away,” he said.
Southampton boss Ronald Koeman has urged supporters not to boo Mauricio Pochettino this weekend, as covered by the Daily Telegraph.
The Argentine goes back to his former club for the first time in the Premier League after joining Tottenham at the end of last season.
Koeman feels that any fans who get on the back of their former manager would be doing so in misguided fashion.
“I think the reception for Mauricio normally has to be good because he did a great job,” said Koeman.
FA chairman Greg Dyke has been quoted by the Daily Mirror suggesting Tottenham striker Harry Kane’s agent has told him he wants to play for England’s under-21s this summer.
England’s under-21 side take part in the European Championship equivalent this summer.
There has been speculation over whether Kane would play, with Tottenham wanting him to have extra rest after this season.
“I got a call from Harry Kane's agent recently just to say how much he enjoyed playing for England and how much he wants to play for the Under-21s,” he said.
