The Dynamo Kiev winger takes on Italian opposition in the Europa League tonight.
Over the years both of Ukraine's wingers have caught the eye. Yevhen Konoplyanka and Andriy Yarmolenko have both been in great form for their national team over the years and are therefore constantly linked with moves away from Ukraine, including teams in the Premier League.
Liverpool famously chased the signature of Konoplyanka to no avail, but in March it was reported they were now switching attention to the other.
The Daily Star reported that Liverpool were keen on the player after he had shone in a 5-2 demolition of Everton in the Europa League for Dynamo Kiev. A fee of 19.5 million was even mooted.
Tonight he will take up the challenge of defeating Fiorentina in the Europa League quarter finals and he has now discussed a potential future in Italian football.
UEFA report him as stating:
"Maybe I'll play in Italy one day, but for now I'm focused on Dynamo."
So it is clear that Yarmolenko is open to the idea of leaving Dynamo in the future, with Italy a potential avenue for him to pursue once the 25-year-old decides to walk away from his homeland.
Liverpool will certainly be hoping that Serie A is not going to be his destination.
