Lopes, a 28-year-old right-back who plays for Sporting CP, was garnering the interest of Spurs and QPR earlier this season, as per the Daily Mail, and he was reportedly offered to the North Londoners on a season-long loan deal.
Mauricio Pochettino did not take up that deal, but that has not slowed down their interest, and they are keen to still potentially move for the four-capped Portuguese international in the summer.
However, those plans may have to be put on hold, with another club in for the full-back - Spain’s Real Betis.
Reported by A Bola, Lopes is garnering the interest of the Segunda Division club Betis, who are set to win promotion to La Liga at the end of this campaign. They are keen to strengthen their back-line for the top flight, and have earmarked Lopes as the man to take over the right-sided full-back position.
There is no indication as to whether Lopes would prefer a move to England or Spain, although both offer the potential for top flight football, and Spurs's safety in the Premier League makes them an attractive prospect.
Rather than fighting a likely relegation with Betis, or even playing in the Championship with QPR, the Lilywhites offer consistent first-team football at a top flight club who are looking to push for European qualification.
