Martin Keown has told the Daily Mail that Jack Grealish must ensure that he stays focused on his football after news of his use of nitrous oxide broke earlier this week.
Pictures of Grealish using nitrous oxide, otherwise known as laughing gas, were published in The Sun and Keown has urged the 19-year-old to stay on the straight and narrow.
The former Arsenal defender wants to see the winger fulfil his talent and actually thinks that the story breaking now could help to keep his feet on the ground.
He said: "In a strange way, maybe this story happening early in his career will actually help keep Jack’s feet on the ground. At Wembley, he was absolutely outstanding but it was one game. Wembley can find you out as a player but he looked comfortable and confident.
"When I see Jack play, with his socks rolled down and his hair slicked back it’s no surprise that he is full of confidence. There is a huge talent there with a big future, but he has to make the right lifestyle choices."
Grealish is still considered to have a very bright future and will be hoping to see the focus return to his on-field ability over the coming weeks.
The skilful youngster had dazzled observers with his performance in Villa's FA semi-final victory over Liverpool prior to this story breaking and will be keen to let his feet do the talking this weekend.
Villa take on Manchester City on Saturday and it will be a good opportunity for Grealish to remind everyone of his talent.
If the Claret and Blues can pick up the victory it will just about confirm their status as a top-flight club for next season and should give Grealish some much needed positive publicity.
