Harry Redknapp’s Premier League Freebie XI: Aston Villa and West Ham United players feature

Liverpool, Aston Villa, West Bromwich Albion, Manchester City and Queens Park Rangers players feature in former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp’s team.

Former Tottenham Hotspur and Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp has picked his favourite XI from the Premier League players who will be free agents in the summer transfer window.

Redknapp compiled for The Sun what he believes is the best group of players who will be out of contract at the end of the season.

In goal, the former West Ham boss has gone with West Bromwich Albion’s Boaz Myhill ahead of Tottenham’s Brad Friedel because the latter is 43 and the former is “getting game time”.

At right-back in Redknapp Freebie XI is Liverpool’s Glen Johnson, while on the opposite flank the Englishman has given the nod to Hull City’s Maynor Figueroa.

However, the 68-year-old has explained in The Sun that he would have wanted to keep Jon Flanagan, whose current contract with Liverpool runs out at the end of the season.

“Whether he counts as a strict free transfer, though, is debatable because of his age and the matter of compensation,” said Redknapp.

Aston Villa’s Ron Vlaar and Kolo Toure of Liverpool find themselves in the centre-back positions.

QPR duo Joey Barton and Karl Henry are the two central midfielders, while Manchester City star James Milner and West Brom’s Youssouf Mulumbu are the two wide players.

Up front, Redknapp has gone with West Ham’s Carlton Cole and QPR striker Bobby Zamora, who Redknapp claims, is “ incredibly strong and good at holding up the ball and is capable of that unpredictable piece of magic which makes a real footballer stand out”.
