Developers Creative Assmebly have unveiled their new addition to their Total War series - Total War: Warhammer.

The announcement comes after the game was leaked online a few months ago.

Total War: Warhammer will have players commanding "thousands of warriors" on battlefields along with "legendary heroes, towering monsters, flying creatures, storms of magical power and regiments of nightmarish warriors." The game will also be the first in a series of three standalone instalments, along with additional content packs.

The game's synopsis reads: "In the turn-based campaign game, players will find the Old World an unforgiving and treacherous place, filled with endless war and cunning alliances alike. Whichever race you choose to play as and however you seek conquest, you will be faced with a conflict that threatens to tear the very fabric of reality asunder."

Take a look at the announcement cinematic trailer below - whether you're a Total War fan, Warhammer fan, or neither, it still shows off some impressive CGI I'm sure you'll appreciate.

Total War: Warhammer is due to release on PC, Mac, and SteamOs. There's no release date set, but it's "coming soon".
